Celebrating the life of
James R. "Jimmy" Hudson
October 29, 1955 - June 15, 2015
SAVANNAH – James R. “Jimmy” Hudson, 59, died Monday, June 15, 2015, at Candler Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Savannah, Jimmy was an independent flooring installer, known in the industry as a Floor Man, and was regarded as the best in Savannah. He prided himself on his professionalism.
An avid outdoorsman, Jimmy enjoyed fishing, hunting, seeing the leaves change colors in the mountains, and teaching his grandson to hunt. Jimmy had a great sense of humor and nothing made him happier than making people laugh.
Surviving are his wife, Denise Hudson of Rincon; step-daughter, Jennifer Hill of Atlanta; step-son, Aaron Hill of Savannah; his grandson, Chris Hair of Midway; sister, Ellen Powers (George) of Savannah; brothers, John Hudson, Jr. of Savannah and Charles Hudson of Fleming; nephew, Phillip Hudson; nieces, Tonya Dowell and Haley Roberts; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Memorial Service celebrating Jimmy’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 4849 Paulsen St., Suite 102, Savannah, GA 31405.

I work with Jennifer and a few weeks ago we were talking and she mentioned her step-father. We previously talked briefly about him but this time was different - Jennifer spoke about how he instilled in her a strong work ethic, professionalism and drive to be great at what you do. It was clear that his impact on her life was significant and that he was loved. As a parent, that's what you hope to achieve. I offer my sincere condolences to the family.

Although I only met Jimmy once (at Harley Davis's funeral) I felt that I knew him through Denise and Jennifer. Their comments and stories about Jimmy told me that he was a good person who enjoyed family, friends, life, and laughter. I remember him laughing a lot despite not feeling well after driving from Savannah to El Dorado. I'm sorry he had Cancer. May his family be comforted by happy memories and the legacy he left.
